The Split Veil Prophecy
According to Scriptures, as two robbers hung on their crosses next to Jesus, they all had one thing in common: they were all under the same condemnation, in that they were all going to surely die at that stage. That is what the perfect Word shows; that is what it is.
Though both robbers began by insulting the Lord, desperate to escape this sure death, one of the thieves suddenly had a change of heart, and thus a change of testimony; that new testimony was noticeably acceptable to the Lord, and saved his eternal soul.
Luke 23:39-43
39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us."
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." 42 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."
43 And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." NKJV™
This day we really need some heavenly help in order to escape the powerful Word of God, "surely die." This is a prophecy, my friends, and according to the Play, [which was written by our Lord, the Author of our salvation], we are under that same condemnation, a death sentence; and now we surely will die if something isn’t done, and real fast. That is what the Bible says, and that is what it is, even though our spiritually blind eyes can see none of this. But, there is yet more to this great, prophetic scene, if we just do not give up hope in God, and read on:
Luke 23:44-45
44 Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. NKJV™
According to this part of the prophecy, there has been an extensive darkness over all the earth for a long time [three hours, meaning much more in God’s language art form, to be learned in our study series]. That is because we snuffed out the light of the world when we killed Jesus, thus plunging us all into centuries of darkness so deep we cannot see our hands in front of our faces, spiritually speaking. But, then God gives us a truly great promise, in a prophetic display no one seems to have noticed nor understood. This is because Scriptures have been sealed against us until this fateful day, when the Lamb of God finally breaks those seals. It is a symbol many may have thought they understood, and have taught as though they had understanding, but they missed the most important part, which even a man who was formerly blind from birth could see: Jesus was the Prophet [John 9:17]. This prophetic symbol was a phenomenal promise of hope to us, which came through the atonement for our sins when Jesus gave His life for us on that cross, and died such an agonizing death: the veil to the most holy was split, from top to bottom, as a major promissary gift from our Father in heaven. But, what does it mean?
This is an absolutely stunning gift of undeserved kindness, and so vital for us this day of dire need; we don’t even recognize we are only moments away from sure death, exactly like those thieves on their crosses. But, God always promised a plan of salvation, and this is such a beautiful metaphor of language He uses, which will glorify His name greatly in this day.
Teachers routinely teach that the veil Has already been torn open, which was perfectly taught would come, by Paul in 2 Cor 3:
2 Cor 3:7-18
7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech — 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. NKJV™
He was right, as far a it goes, but Paul could not have known the fullness of these things, because Scriptures remained sealed against us all, even him [except those things Jesus personally allowed him to know]; that seal is why he could not see this fact: the Lamb of God had not yet fully opened the seals, until returning to heaven, after His death; so it could not have been at the cross itself, but had to be prophetic. And coupled with the prophecy of the darkness to come upon the earth [Luke 23:44], we clearly see that the veil is only torn after the period of that extended darkness, which is when the Lamb of God finally breaks those seals by His own hand; it is all part of that time we have hoped for, the second coming of the Christ. [and Paul did not know the kingdom would not be taken in that first attempt, due to denial of our Lord’s commands, just like Israel before them, and Peter then prophetically played out, all studied out in the R. W. studies]
Many leaders today also teach that sin is that veil which keeps us from entering the most holy, and that Jesus’ atonement for our sins has removed that barrier between us and our God, signified by the torn veil. But this veil has nothing to do with our sinful desires directly, even though it is true that our sinful desires do in fact hinder close communion with God’s Holy Spirit [see also "Sin Is Not Real Barrier"]. And this teaching that the torn veil represents that our sin is taken away only confuses why this split veil is such a huge promise for us today. This lie blinds our eyes to the truth that we are in jeopardy, and also robs us of the hope we need so much. We are sinners, not were sinners:
John 8:7
7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." NKJV™
And note this, my dear friends: the thief on that cross was dying in his sins, as in current; not past and repented, as is so often taught today. Yet it is straight from God that his testimony was acceptable; we need to learn why, because therein lies our same hope. That is what this study series is all about.
The veil, which has always kept us from understanding the fulness off God’s Word, is the seal He placed upon it, in His moment of hot wrath in Eden when we rejected His great Word, and chose the words and doctrines of another instead. Mankind truly deserved to die in Eden, and would have were it not for the quick intervention of our Lord, the Tree of Life, and His offer to lay down His life as an atonement sacrifice for our error. But, as part of our punishment, God took away His Spirit from the Word, so that we have not been able to walk in it ever since. We had His Word, given into the hand of Moses and the prophets; but without the help of His Spirit we have always been unable to walk in that Word. The prophetic promise of the split veil tells us that after a long period of darkness there would come a day when He would finally relent, and break that seal against His Word, and allow us free access to the fullness of His Word, now filled with the Spirit of God. Only then could we ever hope to be able to truly walk in the Spirit of His Word, and thus be able to have real communion with Him. But, until that veil is finally torn to fulfill this great Prophetic promise, from on High to us down here on the destroyed earth, there has been no way we could steadfastly stand in God’s Word, in general.
God, knowing all these things, also included a phenomenal blessing as part of this great day: temporary remission of these sins we all struggle with, for our period of the baptism study vows. This great kindness can easily be seen in the scene at the crosses, in the fact that the sins of the thief were not addressed at all by Jesus, and not much more than that by the thief. God already knows all about our sins, even if that robber didn’t also have a sign overhead spelling out his sins [which is how the men were crucified]. Every detail of God’s stage is carefully and perfectly laid out for us to see, and thus understand with the help of His Spirit.
There are countless other Scriptures which all come together to give us the full picture; but this special promise, that one day God would finally and totally take the veil away from the Word of God, so that our testimony might become acceptable, and our souls might not perish, is yet another direct statement in Scriptures which points to the central concept of the study series: that there is a pure language art form we are to learn, so that we can even know there is The Promise Of The Resurrected Word, and learn how to answer to our God acceptably, in our moment of anguish. It is so perfectly foretold in this one amazing display of the raw power of our God, to set this stage with such exacting detail, all in this language art form God uses in His Word: His own hand [from top to bottom] will take away the veil [break the seals on His Word], and even when it will be done [after three "hours" of darkness over all the land] Here are some passages to consider when studying this great prophecy of the splitting of the veil; but this information is actually all through Scriptures, and these few passages are only a tiny portion thereof.
Matt 19:25-26
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?"
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." NKJV™
Ezek 36:27
27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. NKJV™
Hos 5:15
15 I will return again to My place
Till they acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me." NKJV™
Mark 1:4
4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. NKJV™
Luke 24:47
47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. NKJV™
Heb 10:18
18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. NKJV™
Heb 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. NKJV™
1 Tim 5:12
12 having condemnation because they have cast off their first faith. NKJV™
Matt 24:37-39
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. NKJV™
Matt 6:24
24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. NKJV
Luke 9:23-26
23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. NKJV™
John 14:22-27
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"
23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.
25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. NKJV™
Rom 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, NKJV™
Gen 2:17
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." NKJV™
1 Cor 11:26-32
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. NKJV™
As we can clearly see, Paul was not even dead yet, and his ministry was already corrupting itself, exactly like the scene Moses prophetically faced:
Ex 32:7
7 And the Lord said to Moses, "Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. NKJV™
Yet, Paul did see enough of this to make this confession:
Acts 20:29-31
29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. NKJV™
John 9:17
17 They said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?"
He said, "He is a prophet." NKJV™
Rev 19:10
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." NKJV™
Deut 18:15
15 "The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, NKJV™
Luke 24:27
27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. NKJV™
John 1:4-5
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. NKJV™
John 9:4-5
4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." NKJV™
But, we killed the Light; and now we have systematically denied His commands to us [as Peter acted out]; therefore we now are back under condemnation, just as the prophecy shows, with the two thieves next to Jesus, the two choices. As I point to the threat of a date set for the destruction of God’s people, as prophetically set forth in Esther 3, I pull these few passages out, to focus this point:
2 Cor 3:9
9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. NKJV™
Matt 27:44
44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing. NKJV™
Luke 23:40
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? NKJV™
Rom 11:32
32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. NKJV™
Hos 5:15
15 I will return again to My place
Till they acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me." NKJV™
We have been stuck in this "ministry of condemnation;" our blind eyes cannot see these truths; but Scriptures clearly point it out, if we can just believe the Word [which is the true essence of faith in Jesus, Who is the Word of God]. We are in jeopardy, my friends.
Luke 13:35
35 See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!'" NKJV™
Rev 19:13
13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
NKJV™
Deut 30:19
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; NKJV™
This is truly going to be the Feast of feasts, my friends; He promises it to be so. And with the great prophecy of the splitting of the veil over His Word, He promises to open His Word so that we can give an acceptable answer to Him, in spite of our sinful lives. So come to His baptism, an immersion study feast of His Word, to make us acceptable for our presentation before the living God; because otherwise we will surely die. To me the choice is simple; choose life.
Isa 25:6-8
6 And in this mountain
The Lord of hosts will make for all people
A feast of choice pieces,
A feast of wines on the lees,
Of fat things full of marrow,
Of well-refined wines on the lees.
7 And He will destroy on this mountain
The surface of the covering cast over all people,
And the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death forever,
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken. NKJV™
Without this feast upon His Resurrected Word, this immersion study, we cannot know how to acceptably answer Him. But, through this washing in His Spirit filled Word we come to understand what offerings of our lips to bring before this King we will soon face, all in a language art form we are now to learn.
Matt 2:11
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. NKJV™
Zeph 3:9
9 "For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language,
That they all may call on the name of the Lord,
To serve Him with one accord. NKJV™
